Fresh lineups, but the same intense showdown unfolded between the Red Deer Rebels and Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday evening at the Marchant Crane Centrium. The Rebels clinched a 2-0 victory in their last home preseason match.The Rebels showed a marked improvement following a pair of challenging losses to Calgary the previous weekend.
Matteo Fabrizi is now playing with 20 year old season with the Lethbridge Hurricanes after being traded to the Prince Albert Raiders half way through last season. I liked Fabrizi when he was a Rebel hope he does well in Lethbridge.

Beckett Hamilton got an unassisted shorthanded goal just 50 seconds into the third period making it a 1-0 Rebels game.–Beckett Hamilton (’08, Saskatoon SK) opened the scoring less than a minute into the final frame, snapping a shorthanded breakaway shot bar-down past Lethbridge netminder Leif Oaten (’09, Calgary AB).
Former Brooks Bandit Nate Yellowaga gets the Rebels up 2-0 at 6:05 of the third period. The helpers on the goal went to Nolan Schmidt and another former Brook Bandit in Keith McInnis.–Nate Yellowaga (’08, Calgary AB) added insurance by stepping into a heavy shot from the point to make it 2-0.
Shots on goal in the third period were 8-6 for the Rebels. The Rebels outshot the Hurricanes 27-25 in the game.
Matthew Kondro stopped all 25 shots he faced for the shutout win for the Rebels. For the Hurricanes 16 year old Calgary native Leif Oten made 25 saves on the 27 shots that he faced.

Attendance in Red Deer was also not mentioned.
Rebels next game is Sunday at 2 in Westlock against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Hopefully that is the last game this season with no video updates. Sad, even girls house league teams have them up in pre season.
