Only 10 days removed from the Rebels’ thrilling overtime victory on the road against Swift Current, the Broncos rolled into the Marchant Crane Centrium on a mission for payback. But it was the home side that had the last laugh that Saturday, edging out a 3-1 decision. Red Deer has now earned points in five of their past six contests. The Rebels dictated the tempo through the opening 40 minutes, peppering the net with 32 shots to the visitors’ measly 11 while building a 2-1 advantage. Swift Current mounted a charge in the closing period, but netminder Matthew Kondro was a brick wall, turning aside every one of the 13 shots he faced to seal the win.

Kohen Lodge got a breakaway which he missed, but he never gave up followed the puck and got it out to Beckett Hamilton who was following and he made it a 1-0 game at 8:54 of the first period. Its only half way through the first period and the Rebels are already outshooting the Broncos 13-1.Beckett Hamilton got the Rebels on the board first, lighting the lamp at 8:54 in the opening frame. It came right after Broncos goaltender Joey Rocha turned away a shorthanded break by Kohen Lodge, only for Lodge to corral the rebound and feed it out front—where Hamilton tucked away his fourth tally of the year.

Gard got a 5 minute major for smoking the shit out of Anthony Wilson when he put his head down. It was called a checking to the head. Kind of was I guess.

Shots on goal in the first period were 20-5 for the Red Deer Rebels

Landon MacSwain gets an Arjun Bawa rebound to make it a 2-0 game for the Rebels at 3:51 of the second period. The other assist on the goal went to Aleksey Chichkin.Landon MacSwain cashed in on a bit of puck luck, extending the Rebels’ advantage to 2-0 just four minutes into the middle frame. It all unfolded when Aleksey Chichkin’s blast from the blue line caromed off a Broncos blueliner and landed perfectly on MacSwain’s blade, leaving him with a gaping cage to bury it.

Swift Current Local Parker Rondeau got the Broncos on the board and with in one at 15:50 of the second period unassisted.

Shots on goal in the second period were 12-6 for the Rebels

Samuel Drancak puts it into the empty net at 19:15 of the third period to seal the deal and end the game with the score of 3-1. The assist on the goal went to the Captain Talon Brigley.

Shots on goal in the third period were 13-7 for the Broncos. The Rebels though outshot the Broncos in the game 39-24.

For the Rebels Matthew Kondro stopped 23 of the 24 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Broncos Joey Rocha made 36 saves on the 38 shots that he faced

Rebels next game is Wednesday November 5th in Edmonton against the Beast of The East Oil Kings

Brigley is 8th for all time games played prior to todays game. After Wednesday he will be tied for 7th with former team mate Jace Weir.
