Bulldogs won their 7th game in a row Friday night Smoking The Okotoks Oilers 9-1. The Bulldogs are in first place in the league. Point wise. The Bulldogs have played 3 more games than most teams in the league. Percent wise right now the Bulldogs are in fourth. Couldn’t get a roster sheet for the Oilers as they have not updated their twitter since Nov 11th for some reason. Brady Smith (defenceman) also made it back into the line up after recovering from injury. He has been sidelined since last March.
Before the game I heard on the PA that the Oilers have never defeated the Bulldogs in Blackfalds since they both joined the BCHL. After the season the Bulldogs had last year I found that hard to believe.-Have the Okotoks Oilers Ever Beaten the Blackfalds Bulldogs in Regulation Time at the Eagle Builders Centre? No. Since joining the BCHL in February 2024, the Oilers have played 9 games at the Blackfalds Bulldogs’ home rink (Eagle Builders Centre). Their only victory there was a 3-2 overtime win on December 31, 2024. All other games were regulation losses for Okotoks (scores: 3-4, 3-4, 3-4, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 3-4, 2-4, 1-9). More at bottom.*

Matthew Croxall scores his 8th goal of the season to make it a 1-0 Bulldogs game on a tight angle at 8:50 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Nikita Meshcheryakov and Radoslav Dimitrov. Thats Croxall’s 5th straight game with a point.

Nikita Mesheryakov makes it a 2-0 game after he had to settle the puck down first and then bury the pass that he received in front of the net from Luke Dahlen at 17:14 of the first period.
Eden Prairie, Minnesota native Holden Pajor gets the Oilers on the board at 17:29 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to former Kenai River Brown Bear and Middleton, Wisconsin native Brady Engelkes. Engelkes stripped the puck from the Bulldogs setting up the play.

Nikita Mesheryakov gets his second goal of the night and third of the season to make it a 3-1 game on the Power Play at 19:54 of the first period. Not certain if he meant to bank it off the goalie odds are it was meant to be a pass out front. The assists on the goal went to Rohan Guevarra and Kiernan Poulin
Shots on goal in the first period were 12-11 for the Bulldogs

Thomas Neu gets his 10th goal of the season at 2:06 of the second period to make it a 4-1 Bulldogs game after potting in a nice pass in front of the net from Nikita Ivashchenko

After a lot of smashing and whacking in front of the Oilers net which the Oilers felt no need to rid the zone of the puck Nikita Ivashchenko managed to score his 8th goal of the season on the Power Play at 4:39 of the second period. The helpers on the goal went to Thomas Neu and Luke Dahlen.

Matthew Croxall got his second goal of the game at 8:30 of the second period with the assist going to Thomas Neu. This goal happened so quickly right off the face off if you blinked you would of missed it at the game.

Dean Toskos scored his 4th goal of the season at 16:24 of the second period after finishing up a 2 on 1 with Nicholas DiPaolo. The other assist on the goal went to freight train Nikita Meshcheryakov
Shots on goal in the second period were 16-3 for the Bulldogs

Nikita Ivashchenko easily waltzes in and scores to make it a 9-1 game at 14:23 of the third period. That is Ivashchenko’s 9th goal of the season. The assists on the goal went to Matthew Croxall and yet again Nikita Mesheryakov for his 5th point of the night.
Shots on goal in the third period were 14-10 for the Oilers. The Bulldogs outshot the Oilers 38-28 in the game
Oliver Kiraly stopped 27 of the 28 shots that he faced for the win for the Bulldogs. Kiraly has the best GAA in the whole BCHL. And his partner Carson Mertz is in third place. For the Oilers Phoenix, Arizona native Ben Vatis was peppered all night with crap bounces going his way all night. He also had a great time firing shots on him. He ended stopping 29 of the 38 shots he faced.
Three Stars of the game were 1) Ivan Meschcheryakov 2) Nikita Ivashchenko 3) Matthew Croxall
Attendance in Blackfalds was 603
