The VisitLethbridge.com Arena was electric Wednesday night as the Red Deer Rebels came to town and dominated the Lethbridge Hurricanes with a convincing 5-1 victory. It was a milestone-filled evening for the Rebels: Kohen Lodge scored his first goal in a Red Deer uniform, Matej Mikes potted his first career WHL goal, Owen Shadrick notched a pair, and Samuel Drancak continued his strong play with another marker. With the win—their second straight—Red Deer improved to 10-12-1-2 and now sits alone in eighth place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.
Red Deer native Easton Daneult makes it 1-0 for the Hurricanes at 4:03 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Brayden Smith and Kai Anderson.

Kohen Lodge ties the game up for the Rebels right off the face off at 7:00 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to Matej Mikes.–Kohen Lodge wasted no time snapping home his first as a Rebel right off the draw, bringing his hometown club even.

Matej Mikes makes it a 2-1 with his first WHL goal at 13:03 of the first period with the helpers on the goal going to Keith McInnis and Nate Yellowaga.–Keith McInnis battled along the boards to free the puck, then fired a quick pass to Matej Mike, who was camped right in front of the net and stuffed his first WHL goal between Koen Cleaver’s legs.
Owen Shadrick makes it 3-1 for the Rebels at 19:13 of the first period on an unassisted goal.–Owen Shadrick closed out a fiery first period, ripping one top shelf on the short-side to send the Rebels into the break up 3-1.

Samuel Drancak scores his 11th goal of the season on the Power Play to make it a 4-1 game at 4:29 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Beckett Hamilton and Talon Brigley–Samuel Drancak picked up another point in the second period, teaming up with Beckett Hamilton to go bar-down on the power play. The goal extended both of their hot streaks: Drancak has now recorded a point in 11 consecutive games and in 13 of his last 14 (9 goals, 8 assists), while Hamilton pushed his streak to 10 straight games with points (6 goals, 8 assists).

Owen Shadrick gets his second of the night to make it a 5-1 game at 4:36 of the third period from Noah Milford and Jake Missura.– Missura fired through traffic, Noah Milford got a touch, and Shadrick hammered home his second of the night to extend the lead to 5-1.

Shots on goal in the third period were tied at 8 each. The Rebels outshot the Hurricanes 34-20 in the game.
For the Rebels Matthew Kondro made 19 saves on the 20 shots that he faced for the win. For the Hurricanes Koen Cleaver made 29 stops on the 34 shots that he faced.
