The Blackfalds Bulldogs bounced back strong in Game 2 of their Rogers BCHL playoff series, blanking the Sherwood Park Crusaders 4-0 on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Eagle Builders Centre. The win evened the best-of-seven matchup at 1-1 after the Crusaders had taken a tight 1-0 victory in the series opener the night before. Blackfalds jumped out quickly with three goals in the first period and added another in the second, while goaltender Olivér Király stood tall with a 29-save shutout to earn first-star honors.

On special teams, the Bulldogs went 1-for-6 on the power play scoring a goal on the Power Play when the Crusaders bench couldn’t keep their mouth shut (rumor outside says it was the coach) and killed off all four of Sherwood Park’s advantages, even cashing in on a shorthanded goal. Király was outstanding as usual, rebounding sharply from the Game 1 loss, while Crusaders netminder Filip Vavro looked sharp early but couldn’t keep the shutout streak alive against the home team’s pressure. The series now heads to Sherwood Park Arena for the next games, though attendance in Blackfalds was noticeably down—maybe due to Easter weekend and lighter crowds around town—which felt disappointing for what’s shaping up to be a solid, competitive playoff series. Looking forward to Tuesday night.

Dean Toskos makes it a 1-0 game for the Bulldogs finally beating Filip Vavro at 7:10 of the first period after burying the rebound after Vavro was peppered with numerous shots. The assists on the goal went to Nikita Ivashchenko and Nikita Meshcheryakov.

The Crusaders managed to get a bench minor. During the Power Play Alex Bosland made it a 2-0 game at 17:52 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Thomas Neu and Nikita Ivashchenko.

Thomas Neu made it a 3-0 game while shorthanded at 19:21 of the first period. The assist on the goal went to Braydan Smith.

Shots on goal in the first period were 17-15 for the Crusaders

Krisjanis Sarts made it a 4-0 game at 14:30 of the second period shooting the puck from the point after the Bulldogs won the faceoff. The assists on the goal went to Joey Melo and Luke Dahlen.

Shots on goal in the second period were 11-4 for the Bulldogs.

Shots on goal in the third period were 10-8 for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs ended up outshooting the Crusaders 36-29 in the game.

Oliver Kiraly stopped all 29 of the shots that he faced for the shutout win for the Bulldogs. For the Crusaders Filip Vavro made 32 saves on the 36 shots that he faced.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Oliver Kiraly 2) Thomas Neu 3) Alex Bosland

Attendance in Blackfalds was 594

Bulldogs next game is Tuesday April 7th in Sherwood Park against the Crusaders for Game #3.
