LINK– Gard’s having another solid year with the Rebels, his second since they picked him up in the second round (39th overall) of the ’22 WHL Prospects Draft. The big Winnipeg centre (6’5″) has put up 21 points so far this season.
Then there’s Vlooswyk, a rookie this year. The Rebels snagged him in the first round, 17th overall, also in the ’22 draft. He’s a Calgary kid, 6’5″ on the blue line, and has five points in 40 games.
Fuder’s an interesting one. He joined the Rebels in October after playing in the BCHL. The Cold Lake native’s first WHL season is going pretty well – he’s got 21 points in 35 games.
Thurston’s a second-year guy for the Rebels. They drafted him way back in the sixth round (112th overall) in 2021. The Delta, BC, product has nine points and is apparently leading the team in plus/minus at +3. Not bad.
And they just got Coupland in a trade from Swift Current last week. He’s from North Vancouver and was a second-rounder for the Broncos (42nd overall) in ’22. He’s also sitting at 21 points, but in 37 games.
By the way, NHL Central Scouting just dropped their mid-season rankings. They’ve got the top 224 skaters and 32 goalies in North America, plus another 122 skaters and 16 goalies internationally. A decent chunk of WHLers made the list – 66 in total.
Just a reminder, the 2025 NHL Draft is happening June 27-28 in LA.
