Obviously guys will be added as CHL teams are eliminated. But this is what they got for now apparently.
With the 2025 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship fast approaching, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) has announced the first 18 players invited to Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team pre-tournament camp, scheduled for April 12-15 in Oakville, Ontario. Selected by General Manager Scott Walker and head scout Byron Bonora, the group includes three goaltenders, six defencemen, and nine forwards, with 11 players from the Ontario Hockey League, five from the Western Hockey League, and two from the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. Eight players are eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft, including five who starred in the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge, while the roster boasts significant international experience, with one 2024 U18 Worlds gold medalist, six Hlinka Gretzky Cup winners, 17 U17 World Challenge participants, and six 2023 Youth Olympic Winter Games competitors.
The camp, held at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, is a key step in preparing to defend Canada’s gold medal in Texas, where the tournament begins April 23. Additional players will be named after the CHL playoffs, with the final roster set before the championship. Canada will face Germany and Sweden in pre-tournament games and open the preliminary round against Slovakia, Latvia, Finland, and Norway, with TSN and RDS broadcasting 16 games, including all of Canada’s preliminary matches, quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal games on May 3.
