Rebels fell to the Calgary Hitmen 4-3 in a shootout on Wednesday night down in Calgary. Red Deer started slow, but found their legs in the third period to overcome a pair of two-goal deficits to push the game to overtime before an eventual 4-3 shootout loss. The Rebels fall to 4-9-0-2 on the season but have now earned points in four of their last five games.
Former Calgary Canuck Luc Trevors scored his first WHL goal to make it a 1-0 game for the Hitmen. The assists on the goal went to Rylan Ng and Kale Dach at 1:58 of the first period.–Luc Trevors was able to knock home his first WHL goal on a rebound from the low slot after a sharp-angle shot was stopped by Rebels netminder Matthew Kondro.

Former Salmon Arm Silverback defenceman Ben MacBeath made it 2-0 for the Hitmen at 8:23 of the second period. The helpers on that goal went to Ethan Moore and Caine Wilke.–The game remained tight until the second period when Ben MacBeath capped off a beautiful passing play from Ethan Moore and Caine Wilke for his third of the season. With the assist, Moore stretched his point streak to six games.

Samuel Drancak eventually got the Rebels on the board at 8:06 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Ty Coupland and Nate Yellowaga.–Eight minutes into the third frame, Samuel Drancak punched in the night’s opener for the Rebels, slamming home a juicy rebound right at the crease’s edge when Hitmen netminder Aida Hesse spilled Ty Coupland’s wrister from the blue line.
Wyatt Pisarczyk gave the Hitmen a 3-1 lead at 11:07 of the third period with an unassisted goal.–Wyatt Pisarczyk answered with his first of the season to restore Calgary’s two-goal cushion after a mad scramble out front of the net.

Jaxon Fuder got the Rebels within one at 11:30 of the third period with the assists on that goal going to Ty Coupland and Samuel Drancak.–Jaxon Fuder responded just 23 seconds after that for the Rebels, as he took a Ty Coupland pass from behind the net, and was able to catch Hesse out of position to bury it for his third of the season.

Keith McInnis tied the game up for the Rebels with only 35 seconds remaining in the game. The assists on the goal went to Jaxon Fuder and Luke Vlooswyk.–With only 34 seconds remaining in regulation and the Rebels net empty, Keith McInnis converted on a breakaway to tie the game and force overtime.

Three on three overtime solved nothing which meant shootout. Shots in overtime were 3-1 for Calgary. The Hitmen outshot the Rebels 36-22 in the game.

Aidan Hesse made 19 saves on the 22 shots he saved for the shootout win for the Hitmen. For the Rebels Matthew Kondro stopped 32 of the 35 shots that he faced for the Rebels
