The Bulldogs beat the Okotoks Oilers Saturday night 6-2 on a night where most people were busy at home watching the World Series game #7. The whole weekend suffered low attendance and turnout due to baseball and Halloween falling on a Friday this year. Anyway a 2 win weekend for the Bulldogs. Blackfalds is now first in the Interior East. Even though the Bulldogs have played 2 more games than everyone even the next closest team in the standings Brooks is still 5 points away with only 2 less games.

Nicholas DiPaolo scores for the Bulldogs shorthanded at 4:22 of the first period with the assists on the goal going to Thomas Neu and Krisjanis Sarts.

Bulldogs fed it right out on the tape of Oilers player Nate Porter and they tied the game at 5:42 of the first period. They actually gave an assist on that goal to Luke Calabria who somehow managed to chisel a point out of that situation somehow.

Oilers make it 2-1 when Jacob Goudreau scores his second goal of the season sneaking out in front at 9:06 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Joseph Meredith and Williams Lake, BC native Grady Gustafson.

Jared Langdon tied the game up for the Bulldogs moments later with a nice shot. The assists on the goal went to Dean Toskos and Alex Bosland at 9:30 of the first period.

Shots on goal in the first period were 11-7 for the Oilers

Former Selkirk Steeler Rohan Guevarra scored his first goal as a Bulldog on the Power Play to give them the lead at 5:34 of the second period. The assist on the goal went to Matthew Croxall

Luke Dahlen squeaked one in past Vatis to get his 13th goal of the season and make it a 4-2 Bulldogs game at 11:07 of the second period. With the assist on the goal going to Joey Melo. Right when the World Series game was made 4-2 by the Blue Jays ironically enough.

Shots on goal in the second period were 10-7 for the Bulldogs

Oilers got a 5 minute for spearing at 8:30 of the third period right as the Dodgers tied the game in the top of the 9th.

Jared Langdon scored for the Bulldogs into the empty net at 19:03 of the third period unassisted to make it a 5-2 Bulldogs game.

Magnuss Avotnis gets his first BCHL goal just moments later when the goalie went back in at 19:35 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Dean Toskos and Jared Langdon.

Shots on goal in the third period were 15-5 for the Bulldogs. The final shots in the game were 32-23 for the Bulldogs.

For the Bulldogs Carson Mertz stopped 21 of the 23 shots that he faced for the win for the Bulldogs. For the Oilers Phoenix, Arizona native Ben Vatis stopped 26 of the 31 shots that he faced.

Attendance in Okotoks was 267 who mostly seemed huddled around the TV watching the Jays, who lost the World Series in extra innings.

Bulldogs next game is Wednesday November 5th at home against the Cranbrook Bucks.
