On Friday, the Lethbridge Hurricanes achieved a 6-4 victory over the Red Deer Rebels at the ENMAX Centre. Notably, six distinct players contributed to the team’s success as goal scorers, including Dustin Renas, Hayden Smith, Chase Pauls, Tyson Zimmer, Tristen Doyle, and Joe Arntsen. Moreover, Bryan Thomson’s 30 saves played a pivotal role in securing the win. Despite being outshot 34-27 in the contest, Lethbridge maintained their composure by converting 1 out of 5 power play opportunities and successfully killing off all 8 penalties.

Saskatoon native Dustin Renas scored a cheese goal which is his second goal of the season to open up the scoring for the Hurricanes at 3:31 assists on the goal to Belarusian Anton Astashevich and Noah Chadwick. 1-0 Hurricanes. That is Renas’s first goal in 42 games. The Hurricanes scored again in the first period at 7:14 when Hayden Smith did so on a breakaway and put the puck top right hand corner short handed from Brayden Edwards. Now there is a 2-0 Lethbridge Hurricanes lead😲

Then Kai Uchacz scored his 50th goal of the season on a one timer assisted from Craig Armstrong and Jace Isley at 18:02 of the first period. Uchacz is only the sixth Rebel in franchise history to score 50 goals.

Defenceman and Osler, Sk native Chase Pauls scored his 7th goal of the season to regain the 2 goal lead for the Hurricanes. Assists on the Pauls goal to Hayden Smith and Brayden Edwards. Tyson Zimmer who once played for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines many moons ago made it 4-1 only 1:05 into the second frame virtually off the face off to the right of Chase Coward. From none other than assist machine man Abbotsford product Brayden Edwards. Tristen Doyle scored his 4th of the season from Tristen Zandee and again and assist went to Brayden Edwards. It is a 5-1 game only a little over 2 minutes into the second period.

Talon Brigley scored his 4th of the season at 7:38 of the third period. Deflecting a Hunter Mayo shot. The other assist went to Dwayne Jean Jr. Brigley’s goal makes it a 5-2 game.

Craig Armstrong got his 11th goal of the season unassisted at 13:48 of the third period to make it a 5-3 game. Jace Isley scored his 30th goal of the season from Jhett Larson and Hunter Mayo at 14:12 to come with in 1 making it a 5-4 game. Joe Arntsen sealed the deal for the Hurricanes scoring on the empty net to make it 6-4. Assist on the goal to Jett Jones.
