Slump may be the way to put it. Calgary deserved to win that game. Dimitriadis and Loomer who I am assuming just got off the airplane from Nova Scotia (along with Calgary Canuck Gavin Garland) are in the line up playing. The Canucks actually have some of their better players out of the line up tonight for various reasons.
Former Bulldog Jack Plandowski scored just 56 seconds into the game. With the assist to 20 year old Ty Hipkin. This is Plandowski’s 5th game with the Canucks and he had no points with them until that goal.
Plandowski gets his second goal of the game short handed. Assisted again by Ty Hipkin at 9:56 of the first period.
Shots in the first period were 12-7 Canucks.
Live Music at the Calgary Canucks game. It may of got the Canucks pumped up but it made the Bulldogs keep shooting the puck directly at Molinaro. As if they were playing darts and the object of the game was not to score but to ping the puck off of Molinaro’s chest.
Josh Knittig snuck one through and cut the Canucks lead down to 2-1. Unassisted at 11:14. It was nice to see Knittig score that as he has been having so many chances as of late. He is one for sure no matter what that never quits.
Shots in the second were 15-6 for the Canucks.
Gavin Garland scored his 8th goal of the season from Windsor, Ontario native Julien Gervais at 4:28 of the third period.
There are 5:48 minutes left and the Bulldogs are down 3-1 and now they are on the Power Play. They could do something but spent most of the time of their Power Play in their own end. Then they pull the goalie at 3:30 left. Calgary scored eventually of course. (Sam Lozinski from Chris Kobelka).
The pulling of the goalie so ridiculously early that Blackfalds does and never works just baffles me. It is like the guy that goes and blows his whole paycheck on a VLT machine. Insanity. Florida pulled the goalie really early in the Calgary Flames game that was on after this. Same result. This is not a Disney Movie.
Shots in the third period were 12-9 Blackfalds. The Canucks outshot the Bulldogs in the game 36-25.
Julian Molinaro made 24 saves on the 25 shots that he faced for the win. For the Bulldogs Ethan Morrow made 32 stops on the 35 shots that he faced.
Three Stars of the game were 1) Julian Molinaro 2) Jack Plandowski 3) Ethan Morrow. Morrow really deserved that star it could of been worse if he wasn’t on top of his game. Also if there is one person to have score a pair on you having it be Plandowski at least as a fan makes it hurt less. I’m a bit bias and liked him alot when he played in Blackfalds.
Attendance in Calgary was 431 which is quite impressive for Calgary on a Monday too. You could actually notice it when the camera panned down on one side there were actually people in the building. This scheduling with the weekday games hurt a lot of teams at the gate. Bad choice on the league on this one, really bad choice.
Bulldogs next game is December 19th against the Spruce Grove Saints in Spruce Grove then they are off on their Christmas break.
Nathan Maloney who started the season with the Bulldogs was called up for the Calgary Canucks from the Airdrie Bisons of the AEHL.
Calgary Canuck Gavin Schmidt was called up with the Calgary Hitmen got an assist in the Hitmen’s 4-3 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on December 15th.
