Bulldogs got their third win in a row and fifth this season against the 100% fully caged Bonnyville Pontiacs this season Tuesday night in Blackfalds.

Josh Knittig scored his 5th goal of the season at 2:41 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to Kody Willick.

Chicago native Luka Sukovic netted his 26th goal of the season to tie the game up at 1-1 at 7:47 of the first period. Assists on the goal went to Burlington, Ontario native Jack McAra and another Chicago native Michael Ryan.

The Bulldogs were outshot by the Pontiacs 13-10 in the first period.

Tanner Willick scored his 8th goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game when he went down on a beauty feed from Otto Hanson at 10:24 of the middle frame. The other assist on the goal went to Alexander Dimitriadis.

Shots on goal in the second were 9-8 Bonnyville.

David Brandes got a 5 minute major for boarding at the start of the third period. The kid looked like he fell awkwardly as from where I was it looked like he fell on his skates. I am not certain I am assuming something was said as the penalty wasn’t for the hit. The whole crowd was under the assumption he told the ref to F off as the whole crowd was thinking the same thing. Anyway Brandes got kicked out and the Bulldogs successfully killed off the Pontiacs 5 minute Power Play.

Trent Ledrew scored his second goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game at 11:30 of the final period. The assist on the goal went to Layne Loomer and Aaron Brown.

Hunter Brown scored one in the empty net to make it a 4-1 game with the assists on that goal going to Brendan Ross and Layne Loomer at 18:04.

Shots on goal in the third period were 7-6 for the Bulldogs but the Pontiacs outshot the Bulldogs 28-25 in the game.

Wilson Maxfield made 27 saves on the 28 shots he faced for the win. While Bode “Moustachio” Weiss made 21 saves on the 24 shots that he faced for the Pontiacs.

Three Stars were 1) Wilson Maxfield 2) Trent LeDrew 3) Kody Willick

Attendance in Blackfalds was 445

Bulldogs next game is Friday January 12th against the Thunder in Drayton Valley. The Bulldogs next home game is Hockey Hookey day Tuesday January 16th at noon in Blackfalds.

Ethan Morrow is not on the roster and there is no word on what or where he went. Rumor has it the Bulldogs have picked up Fort McMurray Goalie Gabe Gratton. The goalie that stoned the Bulldogs badly twice. Yeah him. Cody Pisarcyzk has been traded to the Calgary Canucks for future considerations.

Apparently it is a clearing house going on in Fort McMurray this trade deadline. Hoping to find out more soon.

It is also for sure Dakota MacIntosh is coming back to the Bulldogs.

In fact the only player on the team who was not wearing a cage was the back up goalie on the bench. Who was born in 2005. Isn’t that an equipment violation? Not that anyone in a sane world should care but half the time there are clown rules in effect. I know he is a goalie but don’t all players under that age have to wear them? Also not many wearing neck guards. Or at least visible ones. Again not that I care hell if I was in charge I would sign a waiver for them to all no wear helmets if I could. And the kid that was on the bench wearing the half visor got traded to the Calgary Canucks today.

Ethan Morrow has signed with the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL. So twitter says. Unless he briefly played Senior Hockey for a defunct team then opted to play Junior B on the Island or there is a guy with the exact same name. I am thinking elite prospects messed up
