The Bulldogs headed to Drumheller Friday night to play the Dragons. Before the game the Bulldogs were 4 points ahead of Drumheller for third place in the South Division. After the game they were only 2 points ahead of them. So you can tell how the game went.
The game started out great with Tyler Wallace scoring just 20 seconds into the game with assists to his line mates Meerman and Joly. After seeing that I started thinking of the beating Drumheller took from Brooks last week and was hoping it would happen again.
Then at 8;35 of the 1st former Bulldogs Connor Poffenroth tied the game up with his 7th goal of the season. With about 4 minutes left in the 1st period Alexy Trischuk got a penalty for what I assume was “love tapping” a guy. It was called roughing either way it was a very very weak call. I usually don’t complain about refs as I understand it is a hard job and I know I could never do any better myself. But making a crap call like this the ref is better off just grabbing the puck and instead of dropping it at the face off circle throwing it in the net for the other team. Maybe he couldn’t see the play properly? Maybe he stopped by the Waldorf for a few before the game?
Dylan Glinski scored on the Power Play for the Dragons making it 2-1. Then with only 8 seconds remaining in the period Van Yuhas scored his 12th goal of the season giving the Dragons a 3 to 1 lead going into the first intermission. The Bulldogs outshot the Dragons 12-8 by then also.
Kasey Hiemstra made it a 3-2 game at 7:21 of the second period assist on the goal to Connor Dick. Vann Yuhas scored his second of the night for the Dragons at 18:27 making it 4-2. That was one of the worst periods of hockey the Bulldogs have played. The Bulldogs were outshot in the second period 11-4. 4 shotsπ
Besides Brendan Ross getting his 15th goal of the season to give a glimmer of hope in the game at 6:11 of the third there isn’t much else to talk about. Hard to comment on 5 shots. The Dragons scored 3 quick goals to end the game. Hennessey left the game for Charlie Zolin at about 9 minutes left. Not that it mattered much by then.
