The Bulldogs almost had the series finished up but lost to the Canucks in overtime. This works out good I have something to do Friday night now. The Canucks outshot the Bulldogs in the first period 15-8. Although the only goal came when Kasey Hiemstra scored his third of the playoffs from Kody Willick and Connor Dick at 14:34. 1-0 Blackfalds.
Then in the second period Zephyr Laplante poked the puck in to tie the game at 1. Assists went to Matt Corbet and Jordan MacFarlane. Hiemstra 5 minute major at 7 mins left crosscheck. Then on a 5-3 power play Justin Barker scored at 14:40 of the third period from Cale Sanders and Bowden Singleton.
But the tables turned and maybe the ref felt bad for giving Hiemstra a fake penalty, who knows but Canucks Connor Frost got called for hooking at 18:11. Right here I knew 100% that the Bulldogs were going to score.
Then with 17 seconds remaining Brett Meerman scored from Tanner Willick and Brendan Ross. End of regulation shots were 34-33 Bulldogs.
In overtime after getting a few attempts for the Bulldogs to score on Calgary and end the game. The Canucks only needed one to get their extra life. Connor Frost made up for his bone head penalty at the end of the game and scored in overtime.
Other Notes
Bulldogs next game is Friday night in Blackfalds.
Attendance at the Max Bell in Calgary was 402.
Three stars were 1) Max Prazma 2) Connor Frost 3) Brett Meerman
Riley Bracko played as an affiliate player for the Canucks in the game. He looked really good too. Apparently the grandson of Ken Bracko the namesake of the arena they played in. Ken Bracko Arena at Max Bell I think it goes.
Two other overtime games tonight Drumheller beat Canmore to take a 3-1 lead in their series. Bonnyville also beat Lloydminster in overtime.
I am looking forward to Friday its going to be a great game again.
