The Blackfalds Bulldogs have secured their spot in the South Division Finals of the AJHL, following a thrilling victory over the Drumheller Dragons on Tuesday night. The game was held at the Eagle Builders Centre, where yet another packed house witnessed the Bulldogs dominate with 34 shots on goal, ultimately defeating the Dragons 5-2. Jason Siedem opened up the scoring getting his third of the playoffs assisted by Brendan Ross at 10:29 of the first period. Just a huge burst of speed from Siedem right off the faceoff. The Bulldogs outplayed the Dragons huge in the first period with the Bulldogs outshooting the visitors 10-2 in the opening frame. Former Bulldog Connor Poffenroth scored his second of the playoffs for the Dragons at 5:34 of the second period assisted by Dylan Glinski to tie the game at 1. That was a real nice goal that Poffenroth got too, so watching them tie it up wasn’t that painful.

The tie game was short lived as just 3 minutes later Kody Willick scored his 5th of the playoffs unassisted at 8:33.

Tanner Willick made it 3-1 at 12:57 of the second period from Brendan Ross. So now both Willick’s have scored in the second period to take the lead against their former team.

In the third period the Dragons were called for something they really didn’t do, a call that shouldn’t of been called especially in a playoff game. On the powerplay Jason Siedem scored his second goal of the game assists to Tanner Willick and Tyler Wallace. Drumheller scored shortly after when Caleb Wilms made it 4-2 1:50 into the third period with a nice shot from the high circle. Assist on the goal to Coy Pighin.

Jason Siedem completed his hat trick on the empty net to make it a 5-2 game at 17:46 assists to Tyler Teasdale and Kasey Hiemstra.

When did he switch teams? Of course he doesn’t he got an assist on the goal the Dragons scored. I screw up writing stuff all the time too. Probably doesn’t watch the team just threw the article together. Lacombe Online*

This is the first ever playoff meeting between the Bandits and Bulldogs. However, the Bandits faced the Calgary Mustangs in the 2007 and 2015 Playoffs before they relocated. This is the first AJHL South Final since 2016 not to feature a Brooks vs Okotoks matchup.
