The Rebels were a harder working team and they won the game because of it.
In Game 4 of the series, the Red Deer Rebels secured a 3-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers, thanks to a last-second goal. This win puts the Medicine Hat Tigers at risk of elimination, as the Red Deer Rebels now lead the series 3-1. As nice as that may look right now it isn’t over. Anyone remember last year? If the Rebels beat the Tigers they are probably playing the Blades again. I don’t want to jinx this series so not even going to mention what happened last year. On the bright side this isn’t last year.
Hunter Mayo got a 4 minute highsticking penalty at 7:37 of the first period which was a real head scratcher. They showed it on replay numerous times and it looked like the Tigers player tripped over his own feet. It really did.
Jhett Larson scores short handed to make it a 1-0 Rebels game on a breakaway after the Tigers got robbed by Chase Wutzke. That goal just looked like a big middle finger to the ref for making that ridiculous call.–Jhett Larson scored on a shorthanded breakaway at 8:30 of the first period during a four-minute penalty to Mayo for high sticking.
Red Deer native Tyler MacKenzie scored on a wrap around to tie the game up for the Tigers at 11:42 of the first period with the assist going to Hunter St. Martin.-The Rebels killed the penalty off only to see Red Deer native and Tigers captain Tyler MacKenzie score at 11:42 into an emtpy net on a wrap-around when Red Deer netminder Chase Wutzke got tangled up with his teammate and couldn’t get across the crease.

Carson Birnie scored to give the Rebels the lead on a nice pass from Samuel Drancak at 6:54 of the second period with the secondary assist going to Talon Brigley.– Carson Birnie scored his first of the playoffs for the Rebels at 6:54 of the second period with a quick shot from the slot high to the stick side on Tigers netminder Ethan McCallum.
18 year old Edmonton native Hunter St. Martin quickly tied the game back up for the Tigers just 43 seconds later at 7:37 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Oasiz Wiesblatt and Dru Krebs.–Hunter St. Martin tied it 43 seconds later, redirecting a pass from Oasiz Wiesblatt as he cut towards the net.
Shots on goal in the second period were 10-9 for the Tigers.
Hunter St. Martin took a cross checking penalty with a 1:22 in the game. It was a very stupid penalty, but in his defense I don’t think the kid knew he would get called. They were getting away with murder the whole game. So most people would of done exactly what he did. It was an obvious penalty right in front of the ref, but they let so much go all game. I mean I was happy they called it but also amazed at the same time. You don’t want to say it but there are a lot of so called “future stars” on that Tigers team and I don’t think as a league the WHL wants to see that team exit in the first round.
Kalan Lind scores the game winner with only 0.9 seconds remaining in the game while the Rebels were on the Power Play with the assists on the goal going to Kai Uchacz and Ollie Josephson.–In the WHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal, the Red Deer Rebels veteran winger scored his second game-winning goal against the Medicine Hat Tigers. This came on the powerplay with 1.7 seconds left in the third period, resulting in a 3-2 victory.
Everyone knew it was in but Medicine Hat challenged it and it took about 5 minutes for them to figure out it was a goal. I later heard on the radio they were reviewing if there was a high stick when the Rebels came down the ice. Of course it was a goal and it must of been one really crappy bus trip home for Hunter St. Martin and the Medicine Hat Tigers

Chase Wutzke made 33 saves on the 35 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. While 17 year old Brandon, Manitoba native Ethan McCallum made 31saves on the 34 shots that he faced.

If you ever go to a game In Medicine Hat they play this Intro song. It has to be the worst intro video I have ever seen. I would almost be embarrassed if I was a member of the team that had that video out. The play it in the arena before the games it is like a country song about a guy whose dog died and its just sad music. Like not a pump me up video. I am still trying to figure out the point of the video. I couldn’t find it online or I would of posted it here. I have said it before on here and I will say it again, the Tigers moving out of the City of Medicine Hat to Coop Place outside of the town destroyed that teams image in the city. My brother inlaw and his family had season tickets to the Tigers since the 70s never missed games. Since they have been in the new arena they can count the number of games they have been to on one hand. They would rather watch the Cubs there. I wonder if any of those kids on the team even know how big of a deal the Tigers use to be in that city.
2008 born Liam Ruck the 2023 WHL Bantam Draft 9th overall pick was also playing with the Tigers. Lindstrom was also visibly hurting when he did skate out there. He isn’t even close to being his 100% normal self out there.
After last night the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Spokane Chiefs, and Victoria Royals all seen their seasons come to an end.
