The Bulldogs swept the Okotoks Oilers this weekend winning 2 games in a row and right out of the gate the Bulldogs looked awesome. Was very surprised that Gates Omicioli got another game for that fight on Friday. Don’t know but I heard it was because it was after the whistle. Weak suspension sort of silly really.

Bemidji State commit Brett Wilson got his 12th goal of the season to make it a 1-0 game for the Oilers at 14:52 of the first period with the assists going to Kade Duell and Chicago native Michael Kowalski.

Danny Hussa tipped in a Jared Langdon blast from the slot to make it a 1-1 tie game at 18:55 of the first period. The other assist on the goal went to Antoine Gauthier.

Shots in the first period were 9-5 for the Oilers

Captain Joey Melo got his 10th goal of the season with the assists going to Nicholas DiPaolo and Luke Dahlen at 3:51 of the second period while on the Power Play to make it a 2-1 Bulldogs game.

Newly acquired Nathan Taylor dropped the gloves midway in the second period with Oiler Brayden Duy. Junior hockey fights are rare to come by lately and the crowd loved it. But no one likes fighting right? I had to clip that from Flo Tv as I am just guessing the BCHL league won’t allow the teams to post that online. As there is no way anyone doing the Bulldogs highlights would of excluded that on purpose.

Shots in the second period were 8-7 for the Oilers

Shots in the third period were 8-3 for the Bulldogs with the shots being tied at the end of the game with both teams recording 20.

Kirill Kapustin made 19 saves on the 20 shots that he faced for the win for the Bulldogs. On the other end for the Oilers Laval, Quebec native Olivier Ciarlo made 18 saves on the 20 shots that he faced. Both goalies were fantastic to watch. They were definitely more entertaining than the shot count would suggest.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Jared Langdon 2) Jackson Rowland 3) Jason Davenport

Attendance in Blackfalds was 992

Bulldogs next game is Friday February 7th in Cranbrook against the Bucks. The Bulldogs next home game is not until February 17th on Monday Family Day against the Brooks Bandits. That one is a 4pm start.
