The Red Deer Rebels displayed determination and toughness but fell short in a 3-2 defeat against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Tuesday night at the Marchant Crane Centrium, as reported by another observer. Matus Lisy’s first career WHL goal and Ty Coupland’s team-leading third goal of the season stood out as bright spots during the Rebels’ third consecutive loss. Rebels head coach Marc Habscheid noted that the team improved in the second half of the game. He mentioned that early penalty troubles put them on the back foot, and by the time they regained their footing, they were playing catch-up.The season series between the Rebels and Hurricanes is now even at 1-1, with their next matchup set for Saturday in Lethbridge.
Former Okotoks Oiler Kade Duell Scores on the Power Play at 16:10 of the first period with the assists on the goal going to Loa Angeles native Enzo DiDomenicantonio and Easton Daneault.
16 year old Winnipeg native Tyden Lafournaise picked up his first WHL goal to make it a 2-0 Hurricanes game at 17:10 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Logan Wormald and Shane Smith. Lafournaise was the Hurricanes first selection 13th overall in the 2024 Bantam Draft.

Matus Lisy gets the Rebels on the board at 13:39 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Owen Shadrick and Nate Yellowaga.-The Rebels responded in the second as Slovakian blue liner Matus Lisy went end-to-end down the wall and picked the top corner past Hurricanes goalie Koen Cleaver for his first goal in North America.

20 year old Captain Logan Wormald makes it a 3-1 game for the Hurricanes at 7:14 of the third period unassisted.

Ty Coupland then gets the Rebels within one at 12:11 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Samuel Drancak and Talon Brigley.–Samuel Drancak found Ty Coupland in front of the net and Coupland made no mistake, tallying his third of the season to bring the Rebels back within one, which was unfortunately as close as they would get.
Scuffle at the end Fuder and Cozens from Lethbridge were assessed misconducts. Not sure if anything will come of it.
Shots on goal in the third period were 14-6 for the Rebels. The Rebels outshot the Hurricanes 31-27 in the game.
Koen Cleaver made 29 saves on the 31 shots that he faced for the win for the Hurricanes. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced.

Attendance in Red Deer was 2894 which seemed very generous as it looked very empty. Which is not surprising considering it is a weekday game, against a divisional rival, on a night when the Blue Jays are playing a playoff game.
