The Bulldogs got their second win in a row on their 4 game road trip Friday night beating the Langley Rivermen by a score of 4-1. I look at the Rivermen’s logo and all I kept thinking about is that old Simpson’s episode where Monty Burns grabs Homer’s brain out of his head puts it on his head and says “Look at me Smithers I’m Davy Crockett”. I think most will agree that whole Rivermen theme and logo is a lot worse than the Hornets were. But anything is better than what they had in the 70’s with the Langley Lords, for obvious reasons. Either way that rink in Langley looks like a fun and great atmosphere to watch a hockey game.

Thomas Neu had a breakaway shorthanded. They went upstairs to review to see if the puck crossed the line. And it was a goal to make it a 1-0 Bulldogs game at 17:10 of the first period unassisted.

Shots on goal in the first period were 13-8 for the Bulldogs.

Danny Hussa snaps one in from just below the top of the circles to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at 7:34 of the second period. The assist on the goal went to Joey Melo. That is Hussa’s first in only his second game since returning to the Bulldogs.

Luke Dahlen makes it 3-0 with his 7th goal of the season at 10:47 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Joey Melo and Gabriel Smith.

Shots on goal in the second period were 13-10 for the Rivermen

Matthew Croxall gives the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead at 3:08 of the third period on an unassisted goal.

Shane Purves scored after a Bulldog passed it right on his tape. He never scored in Blackfalds so may as well let him score there by giving him a goal at 16:51 of the third period. Like how he taunted the Bulldogs bench after the goal when they are down 4-1 on a make a wish goal.🙄

Shots on goal.in the third period were 9-8 for Langley. The Bulldogs outshot the Rivermen in the game 31-30.

Carson Mertz made 29 saves on the 30 shots that he faced for the win for the Bulldogs. For the Rivermen 20 year old Dallas, Texas native Dylan Johnson made 27 saves on the 31 shots that he faced.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Carson Mertz 2) Joey Melo 3) Thomas Neu

Attendance in Langley was 754

Bulldogs next game is Sunday October 12th in Abbotsford for the BCHL Showcase against the Surrey Eagles. 5pm MST

As funny as it may be to be a horrible player and just get the stupidest bone head penalties in a league where there is absolutely no place for it, this guy has to go. I can tell you if it continues other garbage will follow and it just isn’t worth it. Google him you’ll find out. On another funnier note she Crusaders lost in overtime and blew that game due to their stupid bone head style of play 7-6. The Crusaders were up 6-3 with 1:29 left 🤣🤣 The guy they brought in for the boneheadedness was long gone before they blew the game. Fell for the kid that got scratched for that.
