Last night, in the BCHL’s 2026 College Prospects Game held at Thompson Family Arena in Spruce Grove, Alberta, as part of the league’s All-Star Weekend, Team Interior defeated Team Coastal by a score of 5-3. The game showcased top uncommitted BCHL players vying for attention from NCAA Division I programs, featuring exciting moments like Quincy Supprien’s opening goal, a slick redirection by Trail’s Erik Pastro, and a late tally from Powell River’s Marek Beaudoin. Vernon Vipers defenseman Edvin Nilsson earned MVP honors after netting a big second-period goal that helped secure the victory for Team Interior. It was a high-energy showcase with plenty of highlights and strong performances across the board!

Sherwood Park Crusader Quincy Supprien gets team Interior on the board first at 5:23 of the first period picking up a rebound in front of the net while on the Power Play. The assist on the goal going to Luke Dahlen and Brooks Bandit Zachary Deleau.

6’6 Langley Riverman Tanner Winegard who literally looks like he is the size of Andre The Giant out there ties the game up at 6:51 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to Chilliwack Chief Boris Borin who set him up with a nifty sneaky pass. Winegard spent the past 2 seasons with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL.

Shots on goal in the first period were 12-7 for Coastal

Oliver Kiraly went inoi the net half through, for team Interior. Coastal kept Green in. It could be because Stoesser is playing tomorrow also. Or that since his coach is the coach behind the bench he already knows he has a scholarship somewhere.

Interior goes up 2-1 with a deflection by Trail Smoke Eater Erik Pastro at 14:36 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Brooks Bandit Harry Ahlberg and his Bandit Buddy Zachary Deleuw. Pastro who is a native of Vernon played with the Vipers the past 2 prior seasons before being traded to the Smoke Eaters this season, he was traded for Evan Sundar. Sundar at one time was a Spruce Grove Saint.

Vernon Viper and Swedish native Edvin Nilsson makes it 3-1 with a beautiful goal on his second consecutive shot. The assist on the goal went to Spruce Grove Saints Brandon Funk. On Elite Prospects it says that funk is committed to Long Island University. I still don’t get how some of these commits work as lots (and I mean lots seem to change). There are other players in this game that last season or even 3 seasons ago had commit schools beside there names now don’t.

Nikita Ivashenko makes it 4-1 moments later at 16:58 of the second period. The assist on the goal going to West Kelowna Warrior Noah Garthe.

Shots on goal were 9-5 for the Interior

Spruce Grove Saint Carson Lloyd with a nice shot makes it a 5-1 game for the Interior at 5:35 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Cranbrook Buck Jack McMinn and Luke Dahlen.

Kiraly let one in with 7 seconds left lol he tried to poke check it and missed. The goal went to Powell River King Marek Beaudoin. Assist on the goal went to Prince George Spruce King Ozbej Rep.

Then with like .000001 second left the coast scored again. Marek Beaudoin got his second of the game just 7 seconds from his other one. The assist on the goal went to Cowichan Valley Capital Anthony Hall.

Shots on goal in the third period were 12 each. The Coast outshot team Interior 29-28 in the game.

For the Interior team West Kelowna Warrior Angelo Zol made 13 saves on the 14 shots he faced. He was replaced half way through the game by Bulldog Oliver Kiraly who stopped 13 of the 15 shots that he faced. For Team Coastal Prince George Spruce King Ryder Green stopped 24 of the 29 shots he faced. The BCHL website says the game was split with Rhett Stoesser. Which it wasn’t

MVP was Edvin Nilsson who did have a hell of a game. But if I were to pick a 3 star selection I would have all 3 goalies in no particular order. They were all great.

Attendance in Spruce Grove was 1,005

Earlier today (January 16, 2026), in the VIJHL Top Prospects Game held at Thompson Family Arena in Spruce Grove, Alberta, as part of the BCHL All-Star Weekend, the South Division Prospects defeated the North Division Prospects by a score of 7-4.
