The top 2 teams in the east Faced off Friday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer. Both teams played great. The Winnipeg Ice won its 9th game in a row and completed the season sweep of the Red Deer Rebels beating them in all 4 games that the teams faced each other this season.
The Winnipeg Ice opened up the scoring when Ottawa Senators prospect Zack Ostapchuk scored his 21st of the season at 12:03 of the 1st period from Owen Pederson and Evan Friesen.
11 seconds into second period Jace Isley tied game snipping in a goal past Ice goalie Daniel Hauser from the slot assisted by Jhett Larson and Jayden Grubbe. Thats Isley’s 25th of the season.
In the 3rd period Buffalo Sabres first rounder Matt Savoie scored from Zach Benson and Conor Geekie. That is just one of the most lethal 3 forwards in the league all on the same line🙄 In the final moments of the game the Rebels pulled goaltender Kyle Kelsey in an attempt for one final chance.

The 2005-born netminder from Cremona, AB signed with the Rebels after being a free-agent invite to training camp. In 25 starts this season, Stoesser posted the WHL’s fourth-best goals against average at 2.35. He also recorded a solid .910 save percentage and two shutouts along with a 19-6-0-0 record.
