The game started at about 8:30 at night. It seemed as if even the AJHL twitter account went to bed for this game. New comer Ryan Shaw had a good scoring chance in the first. Then Alex Dimitiradis almost buried one right after. Right from the get go out of the gate the game was all Blackfalds in the first period.
Edward Moskowitz scored his third goal of the season from the high circle on the Power Play at 15:11 of the first period. Assists on the goal to Tanner Willick and Brendan Ross to make it a 1-0 Bulldogs game.
Then just 17 seconds later in his first game as a Bulldog Ryan Shaw bangs home his first unassisted at 15:28 of the first period. I thought the flood gates were open after this one and thought it was going to be a gong show. But it wasn’t.
Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 22-8 in the first period of play.
The Eagles outshot the Bulldogs in the second period 11-7.
Dakota MacIntosh scores on the empty net with 30 seconds to go with the assist on the goal going to Connor Dick.
Ethan Morrow played excellent in net stopping all 24 shots that he faced to get the win and the shutout. 20 year old San Francisco native Matthew Malin was busy at the other end stopping 39 of the 41 shots.
Players of the game at the game were Matthew Malin for the Eagles and Ethan Morrow for the Bulldogs ( I was thinking both goalies too I’m usually not right on that stuff but this game was obvious)
Bulldogs next game is Tuesday October 3rd in Blackfalds against the Bonnyville Pontiacs. Be the fourth meeting against the Pontiacs in this short season. Then after that up to North West Alberta to play the Wolverines and Storm on the 5th and 6th of October.
Noah Davis is playing with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL. Bobby Corkery is now playing with the Jersey Hitmen of the NCDC.
The Eagles were too busy I guess at the Edmonton Oilers exhibition game last night to release a roster on Twitter or online. Or the twitter guy was sick either way looked like fun.
This happened in the Okotoks VS Brooks game today which Brooks won 5-2. I think there should be more fighting and have a 3 fight rule in the league. Will never happen though. I know the league is cracking down on fighting. These 2 guys were just frustrated and really did nothing wrong. Even if they knocked some teeth out and painted the ice a tad red still no big deal. But in what sane world is this any more than maybe 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike or in all reality delay of game. They got tossed for this🙄Hitting will go next in a few years I can almost see it.
