Just 58 seconds into the game Frantisek Formanek scored his 12th goal of the season assisted by Mats Lindgren and Kai Uchacz. The puck went in and Regina continued to go down the ice with the puck like it never went in. It did go in and off the back cross bar very quickly though. At 9:57 of the first Connor Bedard scored his league leading 59th goal of the season assisted by Columbus Blue Jackets third rounder Stanislav Svozil on the Power Play.
At 17:04 of the first period Ollie Josephson scored his 5th goal of the season grabbing his own rebound assists went to Dwayne Jean Jr and Mats Lindgren. Then Kai Uchacz made it 3-1 midway through the second period, spinning and shooting from close range after taking a beautiful pass from Jace Isley. At 10:13 of the second period Stanislav Svozil (a player who got over a point a game at the 2023 World Junior Championships also) scored his 10th goal of the season from Tanner Howe and Bedard to make it a 3-2 game.
Then shortly after at 11:30 of the second period 20 year old Calgary native and former Brandon Wheat King Riley Ginnell scored his 7th goal of the season from Tanner Brown and Parker Berge to tie up the game. But later on the Power Play at 15:19 of the second Ben King scores for the Rebels on a rocket of a shot to make it 4-3. Assist on Kings goal go to Mats Lindgren.
The Rebels were dominating the first half of the third period, but then all of a sudden Borya Valis scored from Stanislav Svozil and Bedard at 13:34. That tied the game up but Valis was not done there just yet. Valis scored again about a little over a minute later for the Pats to take the lead and have it a 5-4 game. With 58 seconds remaining in the game Jayden Grubbe tied up the game to send this into overtime. Assists to Christoffer Sedoff and Uchacz.
Regina’s other Euro Washington Capitals third rounder Alexander Suzdalev scored the overtime winner from Bedard and Svozil.
