Last night, the Prince Albert Raiders snapped the Red Deer Rebels’ nine-game winning streak with a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory in the WHL. The game was action-packed, with the Raiders taking the lead in the first period, only for the Rebels to fight back and tie the game in the third period. The game went into overtime, where the Raiders ultimately secured the win. It was a hard-fought battle between the two teams.

Niall Crocker opens up the scoring for the Raiders at 3:23 of the first period on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Polish Import Krzysztof Macias and 20 year old Sloan Stanick.

Calgary native Aiden Oiring makes it 2-0 Raiders at 10:55 of the opening period with the assists going to Niall Crocker and Terrell Goldsmith.- Aiden Oiring scored his 12th goal of the season at 10:55 by seizing a loose puck in the slot and defeating Rhett Stoesser. It was Stoesser’s first game since January 5, and it happened to be his 19th birthday.

Kai Uchacz scores at 18:10 of the first period on the Power Play. Assists on the goal went to Kalan Lind and Carson Latimer. The Rebels got back in the game with a power play marker of their own, when Kai Uchacz notched his 29th goal of the season and 10th power play marker, at 18:10.

Shots on goal in the first period were 15-9 for the Rebels

Krzysztof Macias scores to make it 3-1 for the Raiders on the Power Play at 6:52 of the middle frame. The assists on the goal went to Sloan Stanick and Jacob Hoffrogge.

Shots in the second period were 18-12 Red Deer.

Fratnisek Formanek scores his 12th goal of the season at 9:43 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Jhett Larson and Kai Uchacz.Frantisek Formanek scored, snapping a shot between Hildebrand’s legs from the left faceoff dot at 9:43.

Kalan Lind scores with just 35 seconds left in the game to tie it up. The assists on the goal went to Kai Uchacz and Carson Latimer.Hunter Mayo and Mats Lindgren collaborated for an impressive defensive play while Stoesser was on the bench for an additional attacker. Just moments later, Kalan Lind capitalized on a pass from Carson Latimer to equalize the score with only 34 seconds left.

Shots in the third period were 10-3 for Red Deer. Overtime solved nothing with the Rebels outshooting the Raiders 3-1. The game went to a shoot out. The Rebels outshot the Raiders in the game 46-26.

Max Hildebrand made 43 saves on the 46 shots that he faced for the win for the Raiders. While Rhett Stoesser in his first game back from injury made 22 saves on the 25 shots that he faced for the Raiders.

Rebels next game is Friday February 2nd in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. The Rebels next home game isn’t until February 9th when the Moose Jaw Warriors come to town.

Ryder Ritchie has been injured since December 15th and should return to the Raiders line up soon.
