In a power-play fireworks display at Regina’s Brandt Centre, the Red Deer Rebels clawed out a heart-pounding 4-3 victory over the Pats on Friday night, their second triumph over the Queen City squad this season that vaults us to a 6-10-0-2 mark and dead-even with Regina at 14 points in the WHL standings. While Pats forward Keets Fawcett lit up the scoresheet with his first career hat trick—all three goals on the man advantage, boosting his team-leading total to 13—our Rebels refused to buckle, striking first through Talon Brigley’s early power-play snipe just 2:20 in and later padding the lead with his second tally, Samuel Drancak’s laser, and Ty Coupland’s clutch late marker to hit 4-2. Fawcett’s highlight-reel spin-o-rama tie in the second and gritty rebound response midway through the third kept the Pats clawing back, but his empty-net one-timer with time ticking away couldn’t quite seal the miracle comeback. Payton Shore stood tall in net with 33 saves on 36 shots to snag third-star honours, as both squads converted 3-of-6 chances in a special-teams slugfest that had Rebels fans roaring from the road.
