A blistering five-minute stretch powered four first-period goals—the most the Rebels have tallied in any single period this season—led by standout nights from Beckett Hamilton and Poul Andersen, each collecting three points (a goal and two assists apiece), while Patrick Sopiarz and Kalder Varga chipped in key contributions offensively. Goaltender Matthew Kondro was a wall in net, holding firm as Lethbridge pushed back late. The win not only pocketed two massive points for Red Deer but also extended their lead over the chasing Moose Jaw Warriors to three in the battle for the conference’s final playoff berth. It also sealed a commanding season series dominance against the Hurricanes, finishing 7-1 overall—including a perfect 4-0 mark in Lethbridge for the first time in franchise history. With defenceman Aleksey Chichkin back in the lineup after a brief upper-body absence, the Rebels now turn their focus to Friday’s pivotal home finale against the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Marchant Crane Centrium (7 p.m.), where a victory—or even a regulation loss by Moose Jaw to Swift Current—could lock in their postseason ticket and cap a tense regular-season push.

He split the defense down the middle and calmly lifted a slick backhand past Leif Oaten.

Kalder Varga makes it 2-1 at 11:59 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Cole Temple and Jiri Kamas.The Rebels struck again. Cole Temple picked out Kalder Varga with a sharp cross-ice feed, and Varga didn’t hesitate—ripping a one-timer from the bottom of the circle into the gaping net.

Poul Andersen makes it 3-1 with his 22nd goal of the season at 14:47. The assists on the goal went to Nate Yellowaga and Beckett Hamilton. Back in the Hurricanes’ end, Nate Yellowaga let a shot fly toward the net. Poul Andersen jumped on the rebound, danced his way in close, and tucked it home on the backhand.

Patrick Sopiarz scores on the Power Play at 15:16 of the first period making it a 4-1 game and that ends Hurricanes Netminder Leif Oaten’s night. The assists on the goal went to Beckett Hamilton and Poul Andersen.On the man advantage, Patrick Sopiarz put the finishing touch on the outburst. Parked at the blue line, he ripped a blistering shot past Oaten, making it 4-1. That five-minute barrage proved to be the decisive moment of the game. The goal also ended Oaten’s night early, with Koen Cleaver coming in to relieve him in net.

Former Kelowna Rocket Kayden Longley scores his 15th goal of the season getting the Hurricanes within 2 and making it a 4-2 game at 17:02 of the first period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Owen Berg and Kade Duell.-The Hurricanes answered back on their own power play. Kayden Longley took control at the bottom of the circle and wired a sharp shot past the goalie, cutting the deficit to two goals.

Shots on goal in the first period were 19-8 for the Rebels

Shots on goal in the second period were 14-2 for the Hurricanes.

Former Rebel Matteo Fabrizi gets the Hurricanes within 1 at 2:52 of the third period. The helpers on the goal went to Owen Berg and Carsen Adair.Matteo Fabrizi added late drama in the third, but it wasn’t enough to erase the Rebels’ early lead. Red Deer held on for a 4-3 victory.

Shots on goal in third period were 11-4 for the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes outshot the Rebels 33-25 in the game.

Matthew Kondro made 30 stops on the 33 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Hurricanes Leif Oaten stopped 15 of the 9 shots that he faced until being replaced by Koen Cleaver after the fourth goal in the first period. Cleaver then only had to deal with 6 shots all game. He easily stopped all 6, as the Rebels had quit playing hockey before he even went into the net.
